A tall tropical tree up to 68ft/20m high with large, tender, fragrant flowers that can be pink, mauve or yellow

Extraction:
The oil is extracted by water or steam distillation from the freshly picked flowers. Yellow flowers yield the best oil.
Characteristics:
A colourless to pale yellow liquid with a light, fresh balsamic, slightly spicy scent. A good oil has a creamy, rich top note. A very intriguing perfume oil in its own right, it also blends well with sandalwood, jasmine, bois de rose, vetiver, bergamot, rose, and floral and oriental bases. It is also an excellent fixative
